It is not unusual for Landlords to demand a higher deposit from pet owners or agreement to a pets clause that holds them responsible for any damage caused by the animal(s) residing at the property; I have come across situations in the past where Tenants wanted to keep pets in a room rental.

In Leasehold apartments, this is more tricky. I would say that almost all head leases in these circumstance state that pets are strictly not allowed due to the communal arrangements. As such, even if the Landlord did not have a problem with pets, having one reside with you would effectively be breaking the terms of the head lease and could subsequently be subject to proceedings brought forward by the management company.
